Weekend Roundup: The Babes do Amy Ruth’s & Brunch in the Bronx!

As we all know from recent articles, NYC has been crowned THE capital of BRUNCHING in all of the UNITED STATES! We already knew that, but now the pressure is on for the babes to sample all of the amazing brunches that this city has got to offer! Each week, we add a new place to the list. With 5 boroughs and living in the tri-state area we must continue on our search for delicious brunches whether they are in Harlem, Brooklyn, Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens or even New Jersey!! You guys already know our motto:

WILL TRAVEL FOR FOOD.

Here is our weekend roundup brought to you by THE BRUNCHING BABES!!! Giddy Up!

The Babes do Amy Ruth’s
On Saturday, the babes linked up after working a cool promotion with 2 of NYC’s radio stations and we had brunch fever (of course) so we decided to check out Amy Ruth’s in Harlem. Now, Amy Ruth’s does not offer a specific brunch menu BUT what else screams BRUNCH than the combination of fried chicken and waffles?

Amy Ruth’s located on West 116th, off the 2 and 3 trains is a popular Southern Style restaurant that has been feeding locals, tourists, politicians and celebrities since 1998. Some of the celebrities/politicians that have graced this restaurant with their presence have dishes named after them.  Even Mr. President has a dish named after him!

Our waiter quickly brought over warm cornbread and butter. Nothing beats homemade cornbread especially fresh out of the oven! When that butter melts right on it.... Yum! We ordered their specialty beverage, THE SUNRISE. Who needs a mimosa when you can have this refreshing non-alcoholic beverage which is made with specially blended juices. Perfect to cure that hangover from the night before! Check out the pics below!

The Sunrise
For our entrees the babes both went with the most popular dish at Amy Ruth’s, The Rev. Al Sharpton which consist of a succulent fried crispy chicken and waffles with syrup. (I would like to kiss the hands of the person who invented such goodness.) We like to discretely look at other people's tables (without being rude of course, momma taught us manners) to see what everyone is eating and much to our surprise,The Rev. Al Sharpton was in at least 90% of those tables. We understand why...and you will too after these pics...

Can't forget the side of MAC N CHEESE!

After our delicious meal, we took a walk to the Upper West side and checked out the TULIP FESTIVAL on 90th st btw Amsterdam and Columbus at the West Side Community Garden. A cute, small garden perfect for a nice after brunch stroll. How beautiful are these tulips?

The Babes Brunch in the Bronx

On Sunday Funday, the babes dedicated their brunching to one of the most underrated places to get your brunch on, the boogie down Bronx. Now if it wasn't for the Bronx this Brunch Buffet stuff wouldn't be going on... so tell us where you brunched? Haha..

In honor of Bronx Week, we decided to check out G-Bar, the sister restaurant to one of our fave brunch spots, Tosca's (also located in the Bronx). G-Bar located on 575 Grand Concourse is super easy to get to. Right off the 2, 4, and 5 trains this restaurant, bar and lounge is the spot to go to with family, friends, colleagues or your babe in crime. With it's urban decor, two-level seating and full bar you will be surprised how great this hidden gem is! They even have multiple large flat screens in case you wanted to check out that Yankee game!

Our bartender, Jasmine kept refilling our drinks and keeping us entertained with his stories. Did we mention that this brunch offers all you can drink bloody marys, mimosas, bellinis AND cranberry mimosas?! Yes variety my friends! We likey too...

Now onto the good stuff, THE FOOD! G-Bar offers an irresistible array of Italian cuisine including an omelet station, carving station, garden fresh grilled vegetables, fresh fruit, seafood, imported cured meats, fresh and aged cheeses and a great selection of sweets.

The pictures do not do this brunch buffet any justice so we took some video with our flip cam to share the goodness with all of you. For just $24.95 plus tax this too can be your Sunday Funday Brunch!

We hope you enjoyed our weekend roundup. Stay tuned for more Brunchventures as we continue on our search for the best brunches in NYC, our playground!
Xoxo,
