The Babes do Cinco de Mayo @ Gabriela’s Restaurant

Last night the babes took it to the UPPER WEST SIDE and joined our friends at Gabriela’s Restaurant for their annual Cinco de Mayo FIESTA.  As we were walking to the restaurant, we noticed bright lights, a crowd and some music blaring. Hmm what could it be!? A LIVE mariachi band!!! Now this is how you turn it up! ARRIBA ARRIBA! Now where is the tequila?

We walk in towards the bar looking for a place to sit and everything is completely packed, (even the alfresco section – BUMMER) there is a 2 hour wait on tables so we decide to hang near the bar and begin the festivities. We ordered 2 Mango Frozen Margaritas (pictured below) which were absolutely refreshing.

These two kind older women were getting ready to leave and asked us if we wanted their table which of course we said YES because we wanted to order some appetizers, more drinks and continue to enjoy the ambiance. (Score!) The waiter quickly brought us over some tri-colored nachos (how festive!) with some salsa and chipotle dips.

We did not want a huge meal so we decided to pick 3 appetizers from the menu so we can share it with all of you! Here is what we had. Close your mouth! We see you drooling!
Queso Fundido-Baked Chihuahua and Cheddar Chesse with choice of Chorizo, served w/ homemade fresh corn tortilla.

Flautas Jalisco- Chicken, Beef or Cheese Rolled in a Corn Tortilla. Topped with Tomatillo and Avocado Sauce & Sour Cream.

Empanada de Pollo Organico-Homemade Organic Mexican Turnovers filled with Shredded Organic Chicken and Chipotle.

This post would not be complete if we did not mention BRUNCH! We have had the pleasure of having brunch at Gabriela's Restaurant located on 688 Columbus Ave (btw 93rd and 94th st.) and we recommend it! Not only do they have "Some of the best Mexican Food in NY" according to Epoch Times but they have a nice outside area that is perfect for outdoor brunching. The menu items include: banana pancakes, breakfast burritos, huevos rancheros, Mexican omelets, tortas de carne or pollo, crisp tortillas and more. All brunch items come with a frozen 8oz. margarita, a bloody mary, a mimosa or coffee and are $12.95!
